North Pole – In a stunning display of holiday cheer gone awry, the elves were left fuming as Santa remained annoyingly jolly during a recent layoff announcement. As the news of downsizing hit the workshop, the elves were expecting Santa to shed a few tears or at least put on a serious face. But no, there he was, grinning like a kid on Christmas morning.
“What’s wrong with him? Doesn’t he understand the gravity of the situation?” grumbled one exasperated elf, angrily wrapping presents with a little too much force. “I mean, he’s got his magical toy factory, and we’re left to scramble for jobs in the snow.”
Rumors circulated among the elves that maybe Santa was secretly outsourcing toy production to Amazon or hiring underpaid gnomes from a distant land. How else could he stay so merry while the elves faced unemployment?
But as the elves packed up their tools and resentment, Santa merrily sang carols and sipped eggnog, seemingly oblivious to their discontent.
In the end, it seems that Santa’s ho-ho-ho spirit may just be an immunity to reality. While the elves navigate the treacherous job market, Santa will be rocking around the Christmas tree, spreading cheer and hiring new, naive elves to take their place.
